Sometimes I wonder why people spend so much time on social media. Don’t get me wrong, I spend my fair share of time on social media as a creator, not a consumer. There’s two types of people who get on social media, creators and consumers.
Creators, like myself get on social media to see what’s trending, to conduct market research and to post some viral shit to boost business sells. That’s me and most of the people that I associate with. That’s what we do and that’s how we remain in front of consumers that are gonna buy our products or services.
Then you have the consumers. Now there is nothing wrong with the consumers but my question is: why? Why are you not creating? Why not get a piece of this digital real estate and make some fucking magic happen. It doesn’t make sense to me how people can mindlessly scroll all day and accomplish nothing.
Oh a cute puppy…like button, oh a gerbil…share button. Why not create something and be something other than a consumer?
But that’s not why we’re here today is it? We’re here because some of you are living in a fantasy world that you took it upon yourself to create in that stupid little head of yours. You know what I mean, you imposter.
Imposters can be consumers or creators. Either way, don’t you get tired of trying to keep up the persona of a fake and unoriginal fictitious version of yourself. That shit has to be so damn tiring. You know why actors get paid so much money? It’s because they are tasked with adopting another personality and portraying it in front of a camera that will eventually be seen by a huge audience. That’s a full time job that takes a ton of energy and focus. Fuck…it killed Heath Ledger.
So why do you idiots do it for free. Pretending to be something that you’re not on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. Return that rental car. It’s not yours. Stop taking selfies in front of your rich grandmas house. Go sit in your hovel and record your content. No one’s buying this shit.
I bring this up because your audience knows that it’s fake and they’re looking for them receipts. They wanna see the proof. Their about to Google your fake ass right now and expose you for a fake clown. Be you when you turn that camera on. People want to get to know you…the real you and no one else.
Don’t make this difficult. People buy you before they buy your product. They buy your knowledge, charisma, your hand shake and all of the authenticity that comes with you. Why you wanna fuck that up. Just be you. The realest you that there is.
If you think that you’re one of the people that isn’t fake, let’s try this out. See when I was a kid we use to talk shit to people in their face and chances were, you would get punched in the mouth for running it. I feel like this generation of social media gangstas have never been punched in the mouth and that’s why they talk the way that they do. You’ve never been about that life so why are you talking reckless to people half way across the world knowing that if you were standing face to face you’d be timid as hell. That’s that fake shit that I’m talking about. It’s an act. Who are you trying to impress? Not me and not anyone else. We all know that your fake and I love fact checking.
I’m just saying. If your not really who you are when you turn on that camera, you’re fake and you’re gonna get exposed and that’s the worst thing that you can do for your business and brand. Do yourself a favor and be the most authentic you that you can be.
This goes to your personal brand. If your personal branding isn’t consistent, you’ll be exposed as an imposter. and I’ll probably be the villain that exposes you.
